A case of elder abuse in the Dublin Police Court reported in the Dundee Courier of 27 January 1885.

Police court reports are a great insight into Ireland of the time, and the Dublin Police Court, a Dickensian building behind the Four Courts, still standing today (image above), had some uniquely colourful cases. The below clipping relates to a 70 year old father of 19 children who has summonsed his 18 year old son for assault. 11 of the children are deceased and another 7 have emigrated.
