Irish barristers don’t just practice in Dublin – they also practice around the country. Circuit practice has always been a feature of the Irish Bar. The actual Circuits and their names have changed over the years – once upon a time there was a Munster Circuit, a Home Circuit, a Connacht Circuit and North West and North East Circuits – and the High Court sits less often outside Dublin than it did in the past – but Circuit practice still quietly thrives, serving an important function in Irish rural life.

The above clipping from the New Irish Jurist and Local Government Review, Vol. 4 (1903-4) shows that, a century before the idea of photographs of barristers being published on a website, Circuit Court barristers were taking steps to ensure all solicitors and judges on Circuit could identify them easily.
