A nice write-up and photograph of trainee barrister Mella Carroll by Barbara Page in her ‘Women’s Saturday Magazine’ in the Evening Herald, 21 January 1956. As all Irish barristers know, Mella subsequently went on to become the first female judge of the Irish High Court. Her full career is detailed by the Dictionary of Irish Biography here. Interesting to note from the article that she was inspired by English barrister Rose Heilbron!
