Solicitors

Solicitors (previously known as attorneys) dealt directly with the public. If a matter became litigious, the solicitor would retain a barrister to draft proceedings and appear in court on the client’s behalf.

Most of the focus on this site is on barristers, as they were the lawyers most closely linked to the Four Courts. Some stories about Irish solicitors were too fascinating to leave out.
